Being the first of its kind, the Amapiano Africa Summit which is set to take place next month, on the 23rd of June till the 24th of June 2023 is curated and conceptualized by none other than Thulani Maduse popularly known as Thulani Way under the With or Without You company.

The Event will take place at Zone 6 in Soweto.

Speaking to Ledikwa Media, Thulani shared that the reason behind him starting this initiative is to share information about the music business and educate young people about it.

“The goal for this summit is to share information about the music business and also to educate young people especially amapiano artists as most of them I could say are under 25 and others are university dropouts and they have never been exposed to their lives about sync deals and all the things regarding the music business.

“So, we are trying to build a strong community with relevant music institutions to shed light and provide information about this type of business and for us to spread more awareness about the South African Music Culture,” he said.

This much-anticipated summit is set on placing the spotlight on the undeniable ever-growing and proudly South African Amapiano music genre, and the summit is set to showcasing the theme: Revolutionization of Amapiano.

“We will be focusing more on topics of building a sustainable ecosystem and creating longevity of the genre, secondly we will be focusing on artists’ mental health issues while travelling and lastly, we will also focus on the purpose of management and bookings managers as we have seen that our artists need more managers to service them,” Thulani added.

The implemented workshops will focus on translating the relevance and value of music and art, as a contributing factor to South African enrichment and youth empowerment, discussion and research around the crucial role that amapiano plays will be at the centre of the summit’s message.

Music will be further studied not only placing a spotlight on it but the artists and their craft as well. The aim is to equip artists with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure that they benefit from their passion and ideas.

The motivation behind the summit solely lies in assisting mostly up-and-coming artists and their well-being, especially from the township, many aspects of the industry will also be covered, such as Brand Management, PR and Legal Rights.

“We will be hosting this summit annually in the country and we are also trying to get it out there and across the African continent and also stretch it across the globe where Amapiano is dominating,” Thulani concluded.

Unifying African creatives, promoting Amapiano on a larger scale and echoing the role that music plays in socio-economic development are also at the crux of this summit.

The 2-day summit will be hosted from 9 am until 4 pm on both days and there will also be a DJ lineup that will serve as entertainment following the workshops.

Tickets are available for purchase on Webtickets at R100 for each day.
