“Making Bra God, firstly, is a different sound I’m debuting and it is filled with stories of where I come from being, - Hillbrow and Joburg central, what I’ve had to survive and seeing wrong things at a young age that I shouldn’t have seen. Putting together this album in the back of my mind are people who can relate to my story and need a friend through music.” – said Tete about the album.
“There are about 5 tracks dedicated to the ladies in this album, I’d like them to listen to Siyaphela among the five which addresses their issues of Gender-Based Violence in the list of many. However, most of the songs and my focus when creating was to speak to the gents and say a few things through songs, I really hope they listen to this body of work which is an AfroFunk sound and for the ghetto eKasi.” Said Tete
ABOUT “BRA GOD“ THE ALBUM
This body of work consists of a lot of keys, strong baselines and lyrics.
It is a kind of masterpiece that an ordinary guy chilling at the corner eKasi trying to figure out their day and life. Tete fishes out at least four songs in this album which he says are his go to for a first time listener.
‘Lenyalo’ which is one of the tracks he says speaks to the ladies comes up first followed by Animkhuzeni which features Zanda Zakuza, Zamalek one of his favourites, the song title is a slang term for an alcoholic beverage named Black Label which is a popular beverage in the hood and Tete is amongst those who wrap up their day with a cord of Zamalek.
“Here I am speaking to the guys either coming from work or chilling on a weekend going about their day having a beer, someone who needs a track that will keep them in touch with themselves, relative and easy for the ear, it’s for the gents at eKasi. I also enjoy Black Label so this is not only just a song but something that I know about and enjoy too.” About Zamalek
‘Bra God’ is a religious touch to the album where Tete has a one on one with the man above about a few issues his people are facing on earth, he tables some things that strike off sensitive in this track and also spares drops of motivation to the person listening as religion and spirituality are quite sensitive and common parts of very individuals life, using this tool to speak to the masses is quite a strong way to connect with different people as it is finding them at their softest and vulnerable to leave your message
