Mokopane designs luxurious watches

Mokopane Ledwaba is the man behind the high-end watch boutique, Ledjoy Watches which aims to inspire and celebrate the resilience of its customers.

Hailing from Ga-Mashashane, a rural area on the outskirts of Polokwane in Limpopo, Ledwaba moved to Germiston in Gauteng, where he set up shop in 2019.

Speaking to Ledikwa Media, Mokopane shares that the reason why he decided to establish Ledjoy watches was to narrate a story, and produce something of high quality and something proudly South African.

"So the reason why we established, Ledjoy watches was to basically tell our story or rather narrate our story to these watch boutiques that talk about them producing and we wanted to let them know that us also as South Africans can produce.

"So we wanted to produce something of high quality, premium and South African with a root of our cultures," he said.

So, he created a brand that tells stories of African resilience.

"Our mission is to encourage our customers to always be courageous, positive-minded and aim to be purposeful leaders," he adds.

“Do not waste time following; find your path and lead with purpose.”

Ledjoy watches are made with a Miyota movement, a reliable mechanism imported from Japan.

The mechanism has a power-saving function that detects motion and automatically saves up to 30% of energy.

This increases the lifespan of the watches and makes them eco-friendly.

Ledwaba says he sources his materials from trusted suppliers and evaluates every timepiece thoroughly for at least eight months before releasing it to the market.

Ledwaba plans to expand his business to reach more customers across Africa and beyond.

He also wants to diversify and offer accessories to complement his watches.

Ledwaba is grateful to his family, friends and loyal customers’ support and shared vision.
