Mzansi comedians and the media gathered this past week at Radisson Red Hotel in Rosebank, Johannesburg on Wednesday, 08 March 2023 for the nominee announcement media event of the 10th Annual Savanna Comics' Choice Awards in partnership with Savanna, Lift Airlines, One-Eyed Jack and more.

Newcomer comedian, Mbali Gudazi, who started her journey in comedy in 2017 bagged two nominations for the Funny Influencer Content Award and the Savanna Newcomer Award.

Speaking to Ledikwa Media, Mbali shared that her colleagues are the ones who actually discovered her talent for comedy.

"Actually, my colleagues are the ones who actually saw the humour in me, my manager also saw and they said to me, Mbali you should do comedy, you have what it takes and yeah the rest is history," she said.

Mbali was inspired by Trevor Noah and Chris Rock, but recently after discovering American Comedian, Kevin Hart, she was hooked and shared that he instantly became her role model.

"Kevin Hart works hard man and I bought his book and in his book he maps out how he started this thing and I love his work ethic, I mean he is good at what he does and that is why he inspires me so much cause he works really hard.

The 35-year-old from KwaNdengezi, in KwaZulu-Natal, is the first time she has been nominated for the awards since she started her career in comedy.

"Yoh, I am so happy because this is my first time being nominated for the awards and when I registered for the awards I thought to myself that I am not qualified, so I am very happy," Gudazi added.

Fans of Gudazi should expect two One Man Shows from the comedian this year as her first one she did last month.
