Bigger and better with a different venue (Poortjie Farm in the Vaal), amped up line-up of local favourites, 3-day long weekend festivities, and for the first-ever, an unmissable campsite experience with a real summer festival vibe!
After the pandemic brought the global live entertainment to a halt, with major festivals hitting the pause button locally, JOZI TESE FESTVAL is proud to announce its much anticipated return - after a three year hiatus - with a completely different venue, extended long weekend festivities, and an on-site camping for the most adventurous and seasoned festival goers seeking immersive experience in the great outdoors.
The annual JOZI TESE FESTVAL has certainly moved on to bigger and better things than its pre-pandemic glory with a larger venue due to high capacity demand from the public. The 4th edition of JOZI TESE is now set to take place at the picturesque Poortjie Farm in the Vaal from Friday to Sunday – over three days on the 24th, 25th and 26th November 2023.
A magnificent highveld farm known for its laid-back, rustic country ambience, Poortjie means "small getaway" and that’s exactly what the freshly revamped edition of JOZI TESE hopes to offer patrons; a brief yet safe escape from the bustle of daily life.
Presented in partnership with the Sedibeng District Municipality as the proud host of the bustling outdoor lifestyle festival - all thanks to its strategic positioning of as a gateway to the east - the 2023 edition of JOZI TESE will, for the first time ever, offer a lively camping experience and direct access to the festival, thus making it easy for attendees to get around.
Not only that; organisers are pulling all the stops to ensure that the line-up lives up to the festival's magnitude. The first batch of top-tier artists booked for the three-day festival include K.O, Sjava, Young Stunna, Kwesta, Daliwonga, Blaq Diamond, Felo Le Tee and Myztro. A roster of over 10 DJs, led by everyone’s favourite DJ Ganyani, has been confirmed, and it features Soulsauce, DJ Jawz, Nomsa Ninkies, Paulisky, Malindis, Happy K, Vuyi, LK, DJ Pulz and more.
“After almost three-year absence, we're proud to announce that Jozi Tese is back by popular demand, albeit with a difference venue; this time around we're taking over the Vaal over an extended three-day period," festival director Mr. Tshepo Riba said. "As JOZI TESE, we are cognizant that more and more people are ready to attend, post-Covid, mega music festivals that they've been missing, as well as big group cultural gatherings of this nature, which along with the tourism sector, were among the hardest hit by the pandemic. As organisers of one of Johannesburg’s biggest lifestyle music festivals, we are not only determined to make this a reality; we want to ensure we showcase the joyous JOZI culture and vibe in a safe, secure and vibrant space – the only way we know how."
Fulfilling the potential of cultural and creative industries in the post-pandemic recovery, JOZI TESE is proud to announce that hundreds of jobs and handful new opportunities for local SMEs will be created as the result of the three-day festival. This, Mr. Riba added, will leverage the economic and social impacts of culture and efforts to transform local economies.
"As the need to gather and experience collective cultural joy feels more pressing than ever post-Covid, we want to make sure we do so responsibly as the organisers of JOZI TESE," he said, adding: "We are bringing together some of South Africa's hottest musicians under one roof, both established and upcoming; this is one of our ways of ensuring that the creative sector experience an accelerated access to employment in the aftermath of Covid-19."
Commenting on the change of venue for this year’s festival - from Ruimsug Stadium to the delightfully charming Poortjie Farm, south of Johannesburg, Mr. Riba said: “While selecting the venue for this year’s festival and many more to come, we wanted to leave no stone unturned and ensure it has everything that our patrons would absolutely love; from the excellent facilities for daily visitors and whole weekend campers alike, to beautiful scenery and tranquil surroundings, you name it."
Organisers officially expressed their appreciation to Sedibeng District Municipality and Mayor, Cllr. Lerato Maloka for coming on board as the host of the JOZI TESE FESTVAL in its fourth year, which is fundamental in helping position Sedibeng as an events destination of choice, as well as stimulating the growth of tourism in the region.
A must for those looking for a truly cosmopolitan vibe with a classic and peaceful country feel, the 4th edition of JOZI TESE will feature tons of activities including artisan food market, themed bars and a variety of exhibitors from the hotel and tourism industry, automotive and property sectors, as well as an exciting selection of leading fashion and beauty brands.
Patrons will get to enjoy their favourite musicians take to the stage while immersing in the heart of nature, and better yet waking up to the enchanting sound of birds the next morning as they get ready for the next dose of guaranteed fun times.
