Its official Deborah Cox and Musiq Soulchild will be in SA this July


Award-winning Canadian Singer, Songwriter, Producer and

Canadian Music Hall of Fame Inductee, Deborah Cox will alongside award-winning, critically

acclaimed Singer and Songwriter Musiq Soulchild be headlining the Afro-Soul and R&B version of the


incredibly successful Magic Music Sessions event in July.


A special press conference was held yesterday, 16 May 2023 at the Indaba Hotel and Conference Centre in Fourways,

Johannesburg, where the exciting announcement was made. A variety of esteemed media graced the conference that was MC’d by the talented, Mbali Nkosi, while some spectacular media

personalities were also spotted amidst the grand gathering.


The much anticipated new shows are set to take place on Thursday, July 27th at Grand West in Cape

Town, while Pretoria will host the second leg on Saturday, July 29th at the SunBet Arena.

July will mark Mandela Month and just as Nelson Mandela has left a lasting legacy, Vertex Events

always seeks to create legacies within the entertainment space.


Deborah Cox, a Toronto-born seasoned singer with five successful studio albums will deliver nothing

but an exciting performance of her timeless and classic hits such ‘Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here’,

‘Where Do We Go From Here’, ‘Sentimental’, ‘Up and Down (In & Out) ’ and ‘We Can’t Be Friends’.

Musiq Soulchild, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-born R&B legend with nine studio albums under his

belt is no stranger to South African fans and is well-known for hits such as ‘Love’, Half Crazy’, ‘Just

Friends’, ‘So Beautiful’, ‘Girl Next Door’ and ‘Don’t Change’ that fans can look forward to, including

his more recent offerings.


Notably, this May marks Africa Month, which will shine a light on South Africa’s notion of inclusivity, diversity and openness in the music space to sharing its biggest performance stages with legendary artists such as Deborah Cox and Musiq Soulchild.


Fans can be pleased to know that South African supporting acts will be the talented and long-time

beloved Vusi Nova and Ami Faku.


Magic Music Sessions places the spotlight on delivering two core essential elements - live music and

electrifying bands. Music lovers will be catered for, as per all the previous events.

shows, as all the artists and their discographies will be amplified through a world-class production.
