Kusazobalit as former Scandal! actor, Hungani Ndlovu joins SABC 1's popular soapie, Skeem Saam as the new Thabo "Tbose" Maputla, replacing Cornet Mamabolo.
The Joburg-based actor shared with Ledikwa Media that coming to this show as the new Tbose viewers will get to see him in the zone, doing justice to the character and keeping and maintaining the standards of it.
"Tbose being brought back to the story is a blessing for me and having to play it, yes this character is way different from Romeo, though I have played a vast of characters, so I think when it comes to this character this is way different from Romeo," he said.
The 29-year-old actor also mentioned that viewers will be seeing a different Tbose and also he will be causing havoc with his character.
"People can expect to see me returning as Tbose who left to go overseas. They are going to experience a different side of him, and also there's an influence that people will be able to identify with Tbose as he returns from overseas, as he got to experience different things that side that he has never experienced, things that will question his faith, belief, culture so he'll be racking havoc on this upcoming season," Hungani mentioned.
Hungani also added that he has learnt a lot about Tbose when engaging with other characters, like Kwaito and all of them and that he got know who Tbose is to them.
"Of course, I can speak Sepedi Fluently. I grew up in Polokwane and Seshego. It might not be my mother tongue but I can definitely speak the language, and I know the culture very well, so that was not a big deal for me and I would like to think that when it came to language during auditions I was the one going to get the role, cause the guys I auditioned with are guys that speak Zulu and have played most characters that speak Zulu, so I think that maybe it's one of the reason I got the role,” he concluded.
The SABC announced on Thursday that the former “Scandal!” star would be joining the show in July as Tbose makes his comeback after leaving for a job opportunity overseas.
“The 1st episode of season 12 sees the return of Thabo ‘Tbose’ Maputla’ under unfavourable circumstances that threaten to tear a young couple apart,” read the SABC statement.
“The character of ‘Tbose’ has been recast and will now be played by actor and dancer, Hungani Ndlovu.”
Tbose left shortly after he tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend, Mapitsi Magongwa, played by Mogau Motlhatswi. Now fans are waiting with waited breath to meet the new Tbose.
