Fringe Solo Exhibition “Stress Narcotika” Debuts at Scapegoat Gallery in Hyde Park Corner

Hyde Park Corner is excited to announce the opening of Fringe’s fifth solo exhibition in Johannesburg, Stress Narcotika, which will run from 12 September to 13 October 2024 at Scapegoat Gallery. Hyde Park Corner, renowned as a premier destination for art lovers, continues to build on its reputation as the go-to location for beautiful and thought-provoking art. Adding Fringe’s latest work only further cements its status as a hub of artistic expression.

Fringe, an internationally celebrated artist, is known for pushing the boundaries of creative thought. Stress Narcotika, his 13th solo exhibition worldwide, brings a bold, imaginative concept to life through a series of paintings, sculptures, multiples, and unique pieces. The exhibition invites visitors into a world where stress is reimagined as a powerful and desirable force — something to be shaped, moulded, and harnessed.

At the heart of this exhibition lies Fringe’s most compelling creation: a fictitious prescription tablet designed to turn stress into a malleable medium. This “stress pill” symbolises the transformation of anxiety, pressure, and chaos into something creative and productive. As Fringe explains:

“In the realm of Stress Narcotika, each heartbeat is a drum in the symphony of chaos, and every challenge is a potion brewing for the addicted soul... Welcome to the age where stress is not the enemy but the coveted fuel for the hungry hearts.”

Hyde Park Corner, well known for its vibrant collection of art and culture, welcomes Stress Narcotika as a fascinating new addition to its artistic attractions. Visitors can look forward to a captivating exhibition that challenges traditional views of stress and anxiety, turning them into metaphors for personal growth and creativity.
