Ranking number one within the tourism industry, Gauteng Tourism planned a roadshow which ends on a high note, and educating guests more about tourism and which places are tourist friendly to everyone including locals from within the province.
The Gauteng Tourism alongside the Gauteng Economic Development MEC, Ms Tasneem Motara and CEO of Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA), Ms Sthembiso “Sthe” Dlamini were hosted alongside Tourism Stakeholders and their Media Partners on the West Rand Tourism Roadshow yesterday, 19th April 2023 starting off with the Cradle cycling to Maropeng in the morning and headed out to Munsieville, in Krugersdorp to showcase the historical Exit House which was named a heritage site and also the community of Munsieville, the MEC also joined in on the painting of the oldest church in the area.
The Roadshow, aimed to highlight collaboration between the government and the private sector in the tourism sector, and also highlight the importance of government and private sector investments in visitor economy infrastructure, upgrades and upkeep of township-based tourism assets.
The MEC and SA Tourism also released the Destination Gauteng Tourism Performance figures for Q1 of 2023 in line with the Tourism Recovery Plan and Growing Gauteng Vision 2030 and also used the Roadshow to outline some of the dedicated interventions by her department and its entities. This includes community-based tourism beneficiation programmes, plans for hosting the flagship event “Cycle Tour de Cradle” and outlining overall Gauteng Tourism Performance with key facts, figures, and impact.

During the media briefing at Tso’s Butchery in Kagiso, the statistics for International and Domestic tourism performance were presented to the media and tourism stakeholders as what is planned for the year and how they aim to reach or pass the numbers they made in 2019 by the year 2025.
The MEC shared words of thanks to all the guests that attended the roadshow and hopes that people will tour the province more and experience all the tourist places in Gauteng.
“I would like to each and every one of you here today for joining us on this day-long experience of the Cradle of Humankind, Maropeng and a trip and experience to Munsieville, we hope locals will tour the province and discover more great places in Gauteng.
“I would also like to thank SA Tourism for believing in us and we strive to show them that we as the province will do more and keep the number one title and let people and tourists know that we are doing greater than Cape Town,” she expressed.
