YOUNG talented, goal-driven, South African DJ, Event planner and Host, DJ Thabithabs, continues to make herself known and wanted around the world.
The 33-year-old DJ is a renowned female Amapiano spinner born and raised in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, the vibrant and energetic DJ brings out a rather strong stage presence that has been blessing the nation with her music since the year 2009 and has had the opportunity to showcase her work both nationally and internationally, on Radio and TV, she is simply a force to reckon with.
During a chat with Ledikwa Media, the DJ whose real names are Nompumelelo Thabisile Buthelezi shared that her journey in music started when she was just 6 years of age and has been excelling and growing for the past years.
"My music journey started when I was 6 years old and also I have always had a thing for music and it grew more when I also fell in love with dancing," she said.
Nompumelelo also mentioned that her father also inspired and contributed to her music career, she also talked about the tough challenge she has had to face in the industry.
"You know what's the funny thing, is that I come from a family with zero music background, but at some stage, my dad started collecting music and he would host parties but he never drank alcohol, so he created an environment for me to start a career in music.
"Also, one of the biggest challenges I've had to face is Male DJs not willing to open space for a female DJ and remember at the time I started DJing it was still a male-dominated career and I remember this guy saying to me he doesn't know why I am here and that if I really know music and want to DJ," she said.
Nompumelelo has been making waves within the entertainment industry and has played at the top and well-known events namely at the Metro FM MSC Boat Cruise last year, Miami Music Invasion, UK Tour in 2019 and many more.
"You know with the Metro Fm Boat Cruise, prior to that I got scammed by some guy, I even forgot his name but he was known for scamming, and I remember he DM(ed) me saying he is looking for female DJs for the Metro FM MSC Boat Cruise, he ran an agency that gets DJs for the cruise and later when the line up was revealed I knew there and then that this guy scammed me and I remember talking about it on social media and people coming out saying he is a scammer.
"But then a miracle happened, Lerato Kganyago helped me out and got me on the lineup and I remember her asking them to always put me on the lineup for every event they put her on, and the rest is history," she added.
Nompumelelo will be dropping a single tomorrow, 17 March 2023, the Casa Blanca Remake and also a lot of tracks this year, she will also be heading to Ireland this coming June for the whole month and the UK after that.
