Brenda heals through her new music

SONGSTRESS Brenda Mtambo is showing her vulnerability to the world with the hope of helping others and sharing her life story of what she has been through these past years through her new music.

Universal Music Group hosted a listening session of Brenda's new music last week Thursday, 20 April 2023 at their offices.

After 5 years of silence, the 40-year-old singer will release an album in May 2023.

Bongi also mentioned during the listening session that she'll like to release more, ideally once every year or two and also knowing that her music is about quality and not quantity.

Her latest album Sane is a 12-track album filled with emotions, ranging from spiritual sounds to jazz, and inspired by her church upbringing. The artist mentioned that this project is a representation of her life.

Speaking to Ledikwa Media, the performer mentioned that this new upcoming album talks a lot about what she went through, it also talks more about spirituality and also religion.

"I am vulnerable enough cause talk a lot, so I heal through music so when I heal through it I want to heal those who are listening," she said.

“I have been open about my struggles with anxiety. I have chronic anxiety, so I suffer a lot.

“I know sometimes it looks like we are always surrounded by people but 85per cent of the time, I am alone. Sometimes I feel overly overwhelmed by everything,” she says.

Bongi also mentioned that the reason she named the album Sane, is that it all makes sense to her and it's all about sanity.

"With this album, I have let people in my space, be it personal, mental, spiritual, you name it, but yeah I named it sane 'cause it talks about sanity," she concluded.
